So as we mentioned with our last one towards the middle (click this if you missed it, I know it’s been a while), there are a lot of people out there who feel as though cedar or other types of natural materials wouldn’t hold up in the ways that aluminum, asphalt, or vinyl does. Now I know that I said this was not a worry at all but I feel like I should clarify a little bit.
Although it will give you just about as much protection as any other building material, the only downside is that cedar tends to have a shorter lifespan than metal or other man- made materials. The time shouldn’t be a very noticeable difference and in my opinion this is a small price to pay to help keep our environment as healthy as possible.
Now aside from durability and life-span, I feel like I need to be fair here and talk in detail about some of the real downsides on going with cedar. Being that it is one of the newer materials out there being used, the choices are a little bit scarce in regards to looks and modern aesthetics go. For many people out there, this is a huge disappointment and I have to say that I understand their concerns. This is especially true for the husbands out there trying to please their wives with that beautiful home they’ve always wanted.
But don’t let that discourage you! Take a look and show your lovely lady this care2.com article and see if you can’t change their mind.
